Abstract: Images of visitors, competitors and choirs from various national and international communities, many of whom are in national costume, at the 1956 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod including madrigal choirs from Klagenfurt and Austria and Blaenavon [Male Voice] Choir performing on stage (GCH09811, GCH09817, GCH09837), a girls' choir from Machynlleth Secondary school (GCH09814), a party from Yugoslavia (GCH09815), members of a Czechoslovakian dance party (GCH09818-GCH09820), Frances Mon Jones in Welsh national dress (GCH09822), a procession on the Eisteddfod field (GCH09824), a schoolgirl from an Oswestry choir (GCH09825), a young woman from Rhos (GCH09826), Miss America, Helen Marie Haynie from North Fulton, Atlanta, Georgia (GCH09827-GCH09828, GCH09831), a lady from Flanders in national dress (GCH09829), a group of girls resting on a bridge, some of whom are French visitors (GCH09832), Wrexham Co-op choir (GCH09833), a schoolgirl from Oswestry who won second prize in the under 16 piano solo competition (GCH09834), a group of schoolgirls from Llanelli (GCH09835), and some of the music judges (GCH13892).

Minimal tonal adjustments using levels and curves in PhotoShop. Master files archived as pc format TIFFS. On-screen display files resized and adjusted for viewing on gamma 2.2 monitors in PhotoShop and saved in JPEG format. 28 image files; Heidelberg Nexscan F4100 capture device using Linocolor v6.0.4 software. Filter settings: light contour-0.5, dark countour-0.5, smoothnes-0.6, countour width-1.0, scan spot size-4.0. Target resolution for hi-res capture was 300dpi at a factor of 450% resulting in +/- 6000 x 5000 pixels; screen res:+/- 600 x 500 pixels at 72dpi; screen-res and thumbnail copies use jpeg compression at setting: 7 in Adobe Photoshop v6.0; 8 bit grayscale; hi-res TIFFs: Gray Gamma 1.8 icc profile embedded.
