Abstract: Images of the 1959 National Eisteddfod of Wales at Caernarfon including images of Megan Lloyd George (E59/049), a youth shaving outdoors (E59/051), Goronwy Roberts on the stage (E59/052), various participants including from Denbigh Grammar School(E59/055), Mair Davies and Hefina Lewis of Carmel, Llanelli (E59/063), the choir from Newborough (E59/064), the tenor David Lloyd by Y Cymro stand (GCU00187), baritone Tegwyn Hughes receiving a kiss (E59/059), Trefin wearing a beret (E59/060), members of Wales International (Cymry ar Wasgar) (E59/061-062, 072), the singer Trevor Anthony (E59/066), officials including Islwyn Ffowc Elis, T. H. Parry-Williams and J. O. Williams on stage in the pavilion, presumably during the prose medal ceremony (E59/068-069) and the ceremony to award William Owen of Stockport the free prose medal (E59/073-075), featuring Cynan, T. H. Parry-Williams, Dr Alun Roberts, T G Walker and J O Williams.

Computer file. Aberystwyth : National Library of Wales, 2000-2002 (Geoff Charles digitisation project) Original, master file captured in uncompressed TIFF format. Minimal tonal adjustments using levels and curves in PhotoShop. Master files archived as pc format TIFFS. On-screen display files resized and adjusted for viewing on gamma 2.2 monitors in PhotoShop and saved in JPEG format. 27 image files; Heidelberg Nexscan F4100 capture device using Linocolor v6.0.4 software. Filter settings: light contour-0.5, dark countour-0.5, smoothnes-0.6, countour width-1.0, scan spot size-4.0. Target resolution for hi-res capture was 300dpi at a factor of 450% resulting in +/- 6000 x 5000 pixels; screen res:+/- 600 x 500 pixels at 72dpi; screen-res and thumbnail copies use jpeg compression at setting: 7 in Adobe Photoshop v6.0; 8 bit grayscale; hi-res TIFFs: Gray Gamma 1.8 icc profile embedded.
