Abstract: Images from the opencast mine at Brymbo showing the open pits and machinery. The land was evacuated around Brymbo Hall, but the reservoir belonging to the Brymbo Water Company was spared. Humphrey Roberts, expert in grassland studies said "They won't get a skin of grass on it for 50 years". He is shown talking to farmers in Pentre Broughton whose land had been disturbed by the mine (gcc04135) and inspecting the land (gcc04151, gcc04152). Images also show Brymbo Steel Works (gcc04129), Mostyn Fisher of Broughton Hall Farm, father of the principal of Llysfasi Agricultural College (gcc04136, gcc04137, gcc04138. gcc04139, gcc04140). Mostyn "died of grief" at what had been done to his farm. The roof of Brymbo Hall can be seen (gcc04142, gcc04145).
